£20m Arsenal Loanee Attracts Interest From Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace are keen on signing Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles in the summer as they weigh up a fresh start, according to the Daily Mail.
A new boss could arrive at Selhurst Park with Roy Hodgson’s deal running down, and it’s stated that they want to land five new players this summer to bolster their roster.
One of the targets is Maitland-Niles, with Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher also wanted after the duo impressed on loan at West Bromwich Albion this term.
The 23-year-old star has been playing as a midfielder for the Baggies, the role Ainsley has wanted to play for some time having been cast as a right back at the Emirates in recent times.
The Telegraph claim that Ainsley now accepts that he needs to quit Arsenal for good in search of senior team action, even if that means playing as a right back somewhere else.
Palace thought they had signed their right back of the future in Nathan Ferguson, but injury problems mean his term has been lost, but there is a chance that he is their right back and the Gunners loanee can play in midfield.
The price tag is likely to be at least £20 million, and it remains to be seen whether the Eagles can come up with that kind of cash to tempt Maitland-Niles down to Selhurst Park this summer.
