34-Year-Old Attacker Could Soon Be On His Way Out Of Chelsea
Olivier Giroud’s representatives met up with Roma’s general director Tiago Pinto on Friday over a possible summer move, according to reports.
The Chelsea forward is entering the final few months of his deal at Stamford Bridge and has been drawing interest from several Serie A clubs.
Giroud was left on the bench in the Blues’ humiliating 5-2 defeat by West Brom on Saturday. It means Olivier has been an unused substitute in the club’s last four league games.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, I Giallorossi are also targeting AZ Alkmaar’s versatile midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is looking to add more firepower to his front line this summer and is keen on both Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland.
Sportsmail revealed that the Blues are leading the race to sign Sergio, a possible replacement for the Frenchman’s imminent departure.
Olivier has failed to land a starting place under Tuchel, and also was on the fringes at the Stamford Bridge outfit with Frank Lampard.
Due to his lack of playing time, the 34-year-old is highly unlikely to renew his contract in London as his agent has begun talks with clubs abroad.
Giroud has played 14 top-flight matches this season and netted four goals.
