Antonio Conte Keen On Chelsea Duo
Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte keen on Chelsea duo
According to reports, Former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is keen on the signature of Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud ahead of next transfer window.
The Italian Serie A outfit are hoping to part way with Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen which makes it compulsory for the manager to bring in a new defensive midfielder and backup forward to strengthen the squad.
The 52-year-old Italian coach is a big fan of the 29-year-old French midfielder, Ngolo Kante, having monitored him right from his days at Leicester City but it will be a difficult project for the club to carry out, knowing how well the World Cup winner is valued at Stamford Bridge.
Also, Olivier Giroud is also wanted as a backup for Romelu Lukaku who could also leave the club with his consistency not assured.
However, securing the signature of N’Golo Kante would be difficult with Tuchel insisting that he is a major part of the club and in his plans for the season.
English Premier League duo Man United and Arsenal had made an attempt to secure the service of the French midfielder when he was unsettled at the club in the last summer transfer window but that did not work out.
Olivier Giroud has also made it clear that he would not be leaving the club as speculated in the past, despite not having the best of time. He is happy with the West London outfit and willing to stay with them until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old Frenchman is currently in a good form, scoring goals across the League. His contract expires with the Blues at the end of the season and there are no chances it would be extended.
Giroud stated that “I just have to show the manager that I am ready to fight until the end, but obviously to be happy I need to be a little bit more on the pitch,
“The gaffer gave me the opportunity to play and I hope I will have more opportunities again because I think I’ve shown him that I am ready to fight for the team. We all want to be on the pitch but we have a great squad.
Meanwhile, France boss Didier Deschamps has also warned Olivier Giroud of the risk of losing his place in the national team if he fails to secure regular playing time.
