Arsenal Complete The Signing Of Premier League Star
Arsenal are pretty much into solidifying their squad this transfer window and have been quite busy in the transfer market. After few outings, they have made the first senior signing this term in Matt Ryan…Arsenal Complete The Signing Of Premier League Star
The Gunners opted to add more quality after a horrible start to campaign. The north London outfit signed a new shotstopper in the summer in Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson. But following a horrible outing against Manchester City in the EFL Cup that knocked them out of the competition, manager Mikel Arteta insisted on finding a new deputy for Bernd Leno.
Mat Ryan brings experience and quality with him. The 28-year-old played over 121 Premier League games for Brighton and was their first choice at the starting of the campaign. However, he had since fallen off the pecking order and was not even picked into the squad for the last seven games. A move was on the cards and Ryan opted to join Arsenal on loan for the rest of the campaign.
The Aussie seemed delighted to sign for the club he claims to have supported growing up. Ryan wrote on his social media account: “Signing for the club you grew up supporting as a kid. Buzzing to be beginning this new chapter and will give everything I’ve got to contribute to the first club I ever loved.”
Arteta expressed his satisfaction after signing Ryan. He will wear the no.33 shirt at north London and is likely to be a part of the Gunners European adventure in place of Rúnarsson. The Arsenal boss pointed out towards Ryan’s experience of playing at the highest level in England.
After getting his wish granted, the Spaniard told Arsenal’s official website: “We know Mat very well through his performances with Brighton in recent seasons and he brings additional quality to our squad. Mat has very good Premier League experience and has played over 100 times in the league, which is something that will benefit us greatly on and off the pitch. We welcome Mat to Arsenal and look forward to working with him this season.”
