Arsenal Eyeing Move To Snap Up Serie A No.2 Defender
Arsenal and Chelsea are planning a moves for Inter Milan full-back Achraf Hakimi ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the recent reports.
Inter’s owners, Suning Holdings Group, have revealed that they will be shutting down their Chinese Super League team, Jiangsu FC, and rumoured has been increasing that they could also be set to to step back from their investment in Inter Milan.
And while Inter chairman, Steven Zhang, has repeatedly dismissed the speculations of an impending sale and takeover, there are talks the club may need to raise significant funds and several of Antonio Conte’s first-team team have been rumoured with moves away.
According to The Telegraph, one of these players is right-back Hakimi, who has joined them from Real Madrid in a £34million earlier last summer.
The report claims that the Gunners have been alerted to Hakimi’s potential availability, with Hector Bellerin on the radar of European giants Juventus and PSG.
Chelsea are also believed to be keeping tabs on the situation and can see the Morocco international thriving in a more advanced role, with Reece James has been the Blues long-serving prospect.
After struggling for minutes at the Bernabeu, Hakimi was sent on loan to German giants Borussia Dortmund for two years and during his time in Germany he has impressed.
Dortmund were keen to make Hakimi’s deal permanent, however, Inter Milan won the race for his signature.
The 22-year-old has racked up six goals and four assists in Serie A this season and would be an upgrade to both Arsenal and Chelsea right-back position.
