Arsenal face fresh competition in pursuit of now £20m-rated Celtic star
Aston Villa have allegedly joined the race to land in-demand Celtic forward and Arsenal transfer target Odsonne Edouard…..Arsenal face fresh competition in pursuit of now £20m-rated Celtic star
The much-coveted French star has entered the final 18 months of his contract with the Scottish champions and could be moved on in the summer if Celtic do not want to risk losing the player for free next year.
A fee of £35 million was previously thought to have been slapped on his head, but given his contract situation, the Celts may reportedly be prepared to entertain offers of £20 million for his services in the upcoming summer transfer market.
The Gunners have long been linked with a swoop for Edouard amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of Alexandre Lacazette, Folarin Balogun and Eddie Nketiah, but according to the Scottish Daily Mail, Aston Villa are also interested.
However, the report adds that Roma are hopeful of winning the hunt as they prepare for life without the Bosnian centre-forward Edin Dzeko, while former Celtic head coach Brendan Rodgers is also keen to reunite with Odsonne at Leicester City.
The former Paris Saint-Germain academy prodigy has bagged 20 goals across all competitions this campaign – including 16 in the Scottish Premiership – and he netted the winner for John Kennedy in his first match in interim charge of the champions versus Aberdeen on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Hector Bellerin has a total agreement in place to negotiate a deal with former club Barcelona if Joan Laporta is elected the club’s new chairman, according to The Mirror.
A report adds that Barcelona presidential candidate has already discussed a possible summer transfer with the player’s agents.
