Arsenal Held Negotiations With €20m-Rated French Defender
Jordan Amavi continues to be the subject of interest from the London giants, this time over a move in the summer transfer window. However, France international is open to the prospect of staying put at Marseille, having previously been set to call it quits at the Orange Velodrome.
Jordan joined the Olympians from Aston Villa in the summer of 2017 and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the best defenders within Ligue 1. Till date, Amavi has turned out 121 times for Les Phoceens, chipping in with 3 goals and 10 assists as well.
However, the 27-year-old defender’s future at the Orange Velodrome has been subject of major concern for the Ligue 1 club, with his deal running out in the summer. The French defender’s situation has caught the attention of one of the biggest teams in the world, with the Gunners showing an interest in him.
In fact, Arsenal had been keen on secure the services of Jordan back in winter as well before a move failed to materialize. Having said that, making a Bosman move for Amavi makes a great deal of sense, at least from a financial perspective, considering Gunners financial issues.
From a sporting perspective, chasing Jordan is understandable as well, with Kieran Tierney currently the only natural left-back in the Spanish manager’s squad. Sead Kolasinac joined Schalke on loan in the winter transfer window and does not seem to have much of a future at the Emirates Stadium.
Hence, it is imperative for the London giants to sign a left-back in the upcoming summer transfer window, seeing as Mikel Arteta has had to deploy Cedric Soares as a makeshift left-back in Kieran Tierney’s absence.
