Arsenal Want To Bring In La Liga Star Who Has €80m Release Clause

Arsenal are reportedly prioritising a move for Real Betis star Guido Rodriguez.

The 26-year-old midfielder joined Betis from Mexican outfit Club America for just €3 million (£2.7m) in the winter of 2020 and has quickly established himself as an important part of their midfield.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Gunners are targeting a move for the player this summer and Gunners scouts have been keeping tabs on the Argentine for several months.

The report states that Arsenal will ‘push hard’ to sign Guido and are looking to strike a deal at the end of the term.

He has an €80m (£69m) release clause in his contract with Betis, while his contract with the Spanish side runs until the summer of 2024.

Speaking last week, the Argentine admitted that he needed to quickly adapt to European football having only played in his homeland and Mexico before his move to Andalusia last year.

‘Football today is a lot faster and faster, we train more and more on the physical,’ Guido told Estadio Deportivo.

‘Rivals are studied a lot with video analysis. Perhaps more at the start, I was a more thinking player and taking time to decide and solve, but I had to change that and readjust more to how it is played today.

‘If you don’t decide quickly, the opponent eats you. I progressed to be able to be at the height of the highest competitive level.’
