Chelsea Held Negotiations With 23-Year-Old English
Dean Henderson’s future at Man United has been thrown into doubt amid fears he may not sign a new deal unless given assurances he will replace David de Gea as the Norwegian manager’s first-choice shot-stopper. Chelsea Held Negotiations With 23-Year-Old English Shot-Stopper
David, Man United’s current No.1, signed a four-year extension last September to tie himself down to the Red Devils until his early 30s, with many expecting the Spaniard to remain the first-choice gloveman for the duration of his stay at Theatre of Dreams.
But England international’s fantastic form for loan club Sheffield United has led to increasing calls for him to succeed De Gea between the sticks, perhaps even as early as next season. And Henderson does not want to pen a deal extension unless promised the No.1 spot.
Dean’s existing contract runs until 2022, so there is no rush on Man United agreeing terms with the goalkeeper, but interest from elsewhere may force Man United’s hand.
The report claims both Chelsea and Tottenham are interested in the English goalkeeper, with Frank Lampard eyeing a replacement for Kepa following his struggles at London club, while Jose Mourinho is a fan of Dean from his time managing the Red Devils.
Even if Man United agree on a deal extension with Dean with promises he will eventually replace De Gea, the keeper is unlikely to stay at Theatre of Dreams next campaign should the Spaniard still be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice.
Reports claim he has no desire to return to Man United from his loan spell if he’s only going to be handed a place on the bench, and would rather spend another campaign away from the club on loan to continue gaining the experience that comes with regular playing time Chelsea Held Negotiations With 23-Year-Old English Shot-Stopper
