The Englishman made his first-team breakthrough at the club last season under Frank Lampard and continued to play a key role for him before the former Chelsea star was sacked.
However Abraham’s playing time has been limited following the arrival of manager Thomas Tuchel and he is not looking to get the ball rolling on a new deal, according to The Athletic.
The report states that Abraham is not keen on extending his deal beyond 2023 while the Blues pursue the world-class Borussia Dortmund attacking target Erling Haaland.
Haaland’s entourage Mino Raiola revealed on Tuesday that only four Premier League sides can sign the 20-year-old striker. Given the west Londoners’ financial clout they are likely to be one of those top-flight clubs.
They only recently splashed out £53m on a new No 9 in Timo Werner but the German forward has struggled for form in his maiden season in England. The 24-year-old former RB Leipzig ace has just two goals in his last 22 games.
With Tammy not appearing to be in Thomas’ picture and Timo’s woeful run in front of goal, veteran attacker Olivier Giroud has moved back into the frame.
The academy product has made just five appearances under the German tactician, completing the full 90 minutes just once, and was replaced at half-time in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw at Southampton last weekend.
