Arsenal and Chelsea planning move for £34m-rated Serie A defender
Arsenal and Chelsea are planning a moves for Inter Milan full-back Achraf Hakimi ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the recent reports.
Inter’s owners, Suning Holdings Group, have revealed that they will be shutting down their Chinese Super League team, Jiangsu FC, and rumoured has been increasing that they could also be set to to step back from their investment in Inter Milan.
And while Inter chairman, Steven Zhang, has repeatedly dismissed the speculations of an impending sale and takeover, there are talks the club may need to raise significant funds and several of Antonio Conte’s first-team team have been rumoured with moves away.
According to The Telegraph, one of these players is right-back Hakimi, who has joined them from Real Madrid in a £34million earlier last summer.
The report claims that the Gunners have been alerted to Hakimi’s potential availability, with Hector Bellerin on the radar of European giants Juventus and PSG.
Chelsea are also believed to be keeping tabs on the situation and can see the Morocco international thriving in a more advanced role, with Reece James has been the Blues long-serving prospect.
After struggling for minutes at the Bernabeu, Hakimi was sent on loan to German giants Borussia Dortmund for two years and during his time in Germany he has impressed.
Dortmund were keen to make Hakimi’s deal permanent, however, Inter Milan won the race for his signature.
The 22-year-old has racked up six goals and four assists in Serie A this season and would be an upgrade to both Arsenal and Chelsea right-back position.
Chelsea and Arsenal go head-to-head to sign Santos forward
Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign Santos forward Kaio Jorge this summer.
The 19-year-old is a product of the Santos youth academy who has established himself regular at Brazilian club since the last summer.
Jorge has since gone on to play 51 games where he has managed to found back of the net nine times in all competitions.
At this stage he is very much regarded as one for the future and a ‘project’ for any team that signs him. And it would appear that there are countless teams queueing up for his services.
Calciomercato claims that as well as the English pair, another top European teams such as Ajax, Inter, Juventus, Lyon and Shakhtar Donetsk are also in the race for his signature.
Only last week, Santos president Andres Rueda revealed the club were struggling to reach an agreement over a new deal for their prospect and he could be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window.
That has seemingly opened the door for Chelsea and Arsenal to make a move for his siganture.
The report adds that the Blues have held talks with the teenager’s agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, who also helped them to get the deals done for Willian, David Luiz and Oscar.
Chelsea prepared to make move for World-Class No.2 defender with €120m release clause
Chelsea are preparing to make another move for Atletico Madrid defensive rock Jose Gimenez, according to the reports.
Uruguay international defender has been on the radar of Chelsea for some time and it is expected to see him linked with a possible to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window will be re-opened in the summer.
According to reporter Fabrizio Romano, players release clause prevented Chelsea from luring him away from Wandametropolitano.
That is believed to be set at €120m. However, after starting just 12 games in La Liga due to the series of injuries his price tag could get lower and Chelsea planning to make an approach once again.
AS reported in September that Manchester City also tried to lure Gimenez in the Premier League in the summer, however, the deal has never materalised and the Citizens ended up signing Ruben Dias from Benfica.
Sport Witness reported that the Spanish club’s president, Enrique Cerezo, confirmed the bid when speaking on Onda Cero’s El Transistor programme.
He said: “Yes we received the offer [from City], but Gimenez is a magnificent player and we are interested in having magnificent players in our team.”
The Athletic insist Chelsea remain interested in the 26-year-old and planning to splash money for his signature.
