Fichajes report that the Blues are the favoured destination of Jan, who is considering ending his time in the Spanish capital depending on how the campaign pans out, with Atletico currently top.
It’s stated that the west London side have made two enquiries to the La Liga giants for the 28-year-old star, as well as holding several meetings with the shot-stopper’s agent.
The report details that Jan believes his future lies in the English top-flight, with a switch possibly seen as sooner rather than later, though the Slovenia international is happy with Atleti.
Fichajes suggest that the Blues would be prepared to shatter the record for the world’s most expensive stopper – that they set with a £71.6 million fee for Kepa Arrizabalaga – as they would pay €90m.
It’s added that Chelsea would offer add-ons as well as a €90 million initial fee, it remains to be seen whether this would be enough to sign a world-class star who holds a buy-out clause of €120m, per Marca.
Thomas Tuchel recently replaced club legend, Frank Lampard, as Chelsea manager and summer acquisition Edouard Mendy has remained between the sticks, it does not look like the managerial change will spark a return for Kepa.
Jan has proved himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world during the past few years, right up there with the likes of Alisson Becker, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Thibaut Courtois.
