The reports revealed that Ozil signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Turkish side, he, however, declared that he would remain a Gunners for life.
Recall that the 32-year-old German side was dropped out of the Gunners squad under Mikel Arteta for months and was left with no option than to seek more game time elsewhere.
Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid for £42.4m in 2013 when coach Arsene Wenger was in charge at the Emirates.
He made an impressive start with the Gunners as they won the FA Cup in his first season to end a nine-year wait for a trophy.
Ozil went on to win three FA Cups with Arsenal and scored 44 goals in 254 appearances in all competitions.
“It is difficult for me to put into words the love I feel for the club and the fans,” Ozil said in an open letter.
“I will be a Gunner for life – no doubt about that,” he added.
He stressed that Arsenal is a club of class and prestige and he always felt it every time he walked on to the pitch.
Following Ozil’s departure, the Gunners are already working towards bringing in a new midfielder from Real Madrid.
