According to Libero, Chelsea have made a contract offer worth €10.5m (£9m) a season to AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Milan-based newspaper claims that the Italian international is the “number one” priority for the Blues ahead of the summer transfer window.

Donnarumma’s contract at the San Siro expires in June and he is free to discuss terms with other clubs but recent claims by reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano suggested that the 22-year-old would be staying in Italy.

However, it appears that Chelsea have made a formal contract proposal to the player. The offer, which works out at roughly £173,000 a week, isn’t a high salary by Premier League standards but it may be more than Milan can afford.

Libero‘s description of it being a “monstrous figure” indicates Chelsea are going all-in to get Donnarumma.

Whether this report turns out to be accurate, we shall see. It would contradict Romano so it’s probably best to take the story with a pinch of salt.

Atletico Madrid are desperate to sign €45m-rated Chelsea winger

Chelsea could be forced into taking a decision on the future of attacker Hakim Ziyech amid interest from Atletico Madrid ahead of the summer transfer window. Having attained stardom with Ajax, Morocco international made the switch to Blues in the summer transfer window last year.

However, Hakim has failed to make the kind of impact that was expected from him upon his arrival. Following an injury-riddled start, Ziyech showed his quality in a few matches, but another injury followed by the change of bosses has meant that he is yet to establish himself as a regular at the London club.

The 27-year-old winger, so far in his tenure with the club, has scored only two goals, having not netted since October last year. Since Thomas Tuchel took over the reins of the club from Frank Lampard towards the end of winter, the Moroccan winger has started only two PL matches, leading to reports of growing frustrations within the footballer.

Thomas Tuchel, having switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation, has largely preferred to use Mason Mount and Timo Werner as his two attacking midfielders, leaving Hakim out in the cold. Ziyech did get a starting berth in the weekend’s PL encounter with Man United, but the attacker failed to make the most of it.

Now, his situation has seen La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid take notice, with a view of making a summer move for him. Los Rojiblancos who have enjoyed a memorable campaign thus far, are staring at the prospect of losing Vitolo in the summer.

Thomas Tuchel praises N’Golo Kante after Chelsea beat Liverpool

According to RMC Sport, Thomas Tuchel has come out all praises for N’Golo Kante after Chelsea beat Liverpool. A 42nd-minute strike from Mason Mount proved to be the goal that separated the sides at Anfield in a crucial six-pointer.

While Mount did the damage in Liverpool’s half, it was a certain N’Golo Kante who kept things clean at the other end. His performance absolutely nulled the Liverpool side and any effort they tried to make on goal. Tuchel was particularly impressed with the diminutive Frenchman.

“He [Kante] is a gift. It’s incredible. I’ve never seen anything like this. At training, in games, he never stops. We look at the data on his intensity and he is incredible. He really is a gift.”

Kante was inspirational at Anfield as he kept the troika of Liverpool’s forward’s quiet while snuffing out any threat from their midfielders by intercepting their moves. It was not all defence from Kante though.

His probing lofted ball from his own half found Mason Mount who did the rest by latching on to the ball and running past the defence to slot it into the button corner. It was surely a top-notch and all-round display from the midfielder.
