Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is set for a return to La Liga with one of Spain’s biggest clubs in the coming months, providing the club’s takeover is successful.

Is It Time For Arteta To Unleash Martinelli Against Tottenham?

Mata has been a mainstay in the United side ever since he moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea back in January 2014 under current West Ham United manager David Moyes. However, this season, the Spaniard has really struggled for game-time in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team, making just 12 appearances in all competitions this season, with many coming off the bench.

In the summer, Mata was heavily linked with a move to an unnamed club in the Middle East and a deal between the two parties was very close, but the 32-year-old turned down the move in the end as he still believed he had a part to play this season, which turned out to be less of a part than he probably would have hoped.

This summer though, it is more than likely that Mata moves on from Manchester United with a number of clubs all lining up to secure his signature if he does leave, including teams in Turkey such as Galatasaray.

Mata’s former club Valencia, whom he was with for four years prior to his move to Stamford Bridge, are said to be very interested in trying to bring the playmaker back to the Mestalla, according to a report from La Razon.

They have wanted him back for quite some time and have been monitoring his situation but could never afford him due to his high wage demands. However, a deal may now be possible in the coming months if the Spanish giants are successfully taken over by the Crown Prince of Johor as there has been a lot of talk that he is extremely interested in buying the club.

This move would benefit both parties as Manchester United can finally get him off the wage bill, and Valencia will get an experienced player with a lot of quality.
