JUST IN:23-Year-Old Striker To Depart Chelsea During Summer Window

Former England centre-back Joleon Lescott expects Tammy Abraham to quit Chelsea after being sidelined by new head coach Thomas Tuchel.

The 23-year-old was a key player for former manager Frank Lampard and scored 18 goals in 47 matches last season.

But Tuchel left Tammy out of his Chelsea roster to face Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton, leading to speculation over the attacker’s future at Stamford Bridge.

He has fallen behind Timo Werner and Olivier Giroud in the pecking order in west London and Joleon believes he will depart Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.

He told Premier League productions: ‘I think he [Abraham] has made it known that he’s not convinced about signing a new contract. Obviously, players want to play.

‘He’s had an experience of playing, he’s been on loan and done the hard yards in the lower leagues and come back to Chelsea and performed.

‘He’s not necessarily played badly but for whatever reason he hasn’t been given opportunities by Tuchel.

‘Do I see him being there long-term? I don’t, to be honest. I see him having to go away. I’d like to see him stick around but I don’t see it happening.’

Deal On: Arsenal to replace Alexandre Lacazette with Portuguese star

Meantime, Chelsea are planning a summer transfer swoop for Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez, according to The Athletic.

The 26-year-old star has reportedly been on the Blues’ radar since 2016, and they were publicly linked with Jose last summer.

He has been limited by muscle injuries this year, starting just 12 matches in La Liga due to a lack of availability.

The Blues appear to be casting a wide net in their search for reinforcements at the back, having also been connected to Ibrahima Konate, Niklas Sule and David Alaba.
