Man United Given Major Boost In Quest To Land £30m Defender
Manchester United defensive target Nikola Milenkovic is ‘open’ to a transfer to Old Trafford but will only push to quit Fiorentina when and if the Red Devils firm up their interest with an offer……..Man United Given Major Boost In Quest To Land £30m Defender
He has 18 months to run on his contract in Florence and the Serie A sid’s management are desperate to tie their star defender down to an extension.
The 23-year-old’s current situation has alerted United, who are keen to land a centre-back partner for Harry Maguire this summer because of concerns about Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly’s injury problems.
Nikola is happy in Italy and would be prepared to see out his existing contract at the club before departing for free in 2022.
But Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport report the highly-rated defender would push for a switch to Old Trafford this summer if the Norwegian tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side submit a bid for him.
The defender is rated at around £30m considering his contract situation and United consider the player to be a more viable and affordable option than Sevilla talent Jules Kounde, who would cost around £68 million this summer.
United have shipped 32 goals in 25 games this term and central defence is likely to be where Ole spends the vast majority of his budget in the summer.
The Norwegian has favoured Victor alongside Maguire but that’s in part down to Eric’s inability to stay fit, as Solskjaer would rather a faster centre-half played alongside the England international.
