Man United Renewed Negotiations With 23-Year-Old French Winger
PL rivals Man United and Chelsea are both keeping tabs on Ousmane Dembele’s deal standoff with Blaugrana and could make a move for the forward, according to reports. But Ousmane has shown signs of a return to form, playing well against Athletic Bilbao recently and netting against Cornella, with the winger finally getting a consistent, injury-free run in the team.
Dembele has netted three times and assisted twice in only four UCL games, while he has two La Liga goals, averaging a goal contribution every 107 minutes across the two tournaments.
The La Liga giants are very encouraged by the 23-year-old winger’s recent displays, but his deal situation means they could be forced to offload him. The French forward’s deal expires in 2022, meaning he has only 18 months left to run on his contract, and Blaugrana have made it clear that they will need to sell him if he will not commit to new terms.
The World Cup-winning winger will be free to negotiate a pre-contract deal with other clubs in only a years’ time and Barcelona do not want to risk losing a player they spent £135m on for nothing.
Although the ex-Dortmund winger has failed to live up to that enormous price tag, he still has plenty of suitors as both Man United and Chelsea are keeping informed of the situation. Red Devils were heavily linked with Dembele over the summer and he was seen as a cheaper alternative to Sancho to solve their problematic right-wing position.
