United made a late push to land Dembele in the closing stages of the transfer window previous week after failing to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
Dembele, however, rejected the chance to join United and was intent on sticking with Barcelona in order to win a place in Ronald Koeman’s side.
The Red Devils and Blaugrana also ran out of time in negotiations as the PL side wanted to sign Dembele on loan with a purchase option, while the Catalans’ preference was to permanently sell the French attacker.
According to Sport, their stance remains unchanged and the board will be open to offers for Dembele in the next transfer market and are willing to sell for an initial €50m (£45m) sum.
The report claims that Barca want Dembele to extend his contract, which would increase his valuation, but if the 23-year-old ace refuses then the club will look to offload him outright.
Barca had been holding out for €100 million (£90.6m) fee for Dembele a few months ago but the Spanish giants have been forced to drastically cut their asking price.
Ousmane has less than two years remaining on his existing deal and Barca do not want the star to enter the final year of his contract without signing a renewal.
A move for Dembele to the PL could now be on the cards in January, with Liverpool also showing their interest in the winger during the summer.
