Man Utd Boosted In Their Pursuit Of World-Class No 5 Defender
Real Madrid are thinking about selling long-time Manchester United defensive target Raphael Varane for a knock-down sum if the French defender refuses to commit to a fresh deal, according to reports…….Man Utd Boosted In Their Pursuit Of World-Class No 5 Defender
The 27-year-old star, who has been virtually ever-present this campaign, has less than 18 months to run on his existing contract with the Spanish giants and may be considering departing the Bernabeu.
Los Blancos are already locked in a contract saga with captain Sergio Ramos and now Marca state they are just as fearful of losing Raphael too.
Club senior figures are ‘suspicious’ and believe the French star has no intention of extending his deal with the club and intends to run down his contract before leaving for nothing.
With the Galacticos already at risk of losing Sergio without getting a fee in return, the board have no intention of doing the same with Raphael and are considering selling him in the summer too if he won’t commit to fresh terms.
Their preference would be to keep the centre-back and they still hope to convince him to stay, but Real Madrid are braced for the possibility of losing the player.
If he doesn’t agree to sign an extension before the start of the summer market, Real will look to cash in on Varane and are aiming for a fee of just €50 million (£44m).
The Spanish giants are fully aware that both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been following Varane for a while and retain a massive interest, while Juventus and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the situation.
