The vastly experienced Spaniard has entered the final six months of his existing deal and is free to negotiate with any possible European suitors.
He has spent 16 years of his trophy-laden career at the Santiago Bernabeu side but looks set for a shock exit having fallen out with club president Florentino Perez.
According to The Mirror, Mauricio Pochettino’s Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with Sergio but the World Cup winning centre-half has rejected a move to the French capital and wants to test himself in the PL.
The 34-year-old has also attracted attention from several clubs in Asia but his family are understood not to be keen on relocating there.
He is likely to command wages in excess of £200,000 per week and although Everton are understood to maintain an interest, the Red Devils are said to represent the player’s dream destination.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti coached Ramos during their time together in the Spanish capital, but Ramos’s representative are pushing for their client to sign for United instead.
Ramos recently snubbed the offer of a new two-year deal after he was asked to accept a 10 per cent pay cut.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, meantime, was unable to strengthen his central defensive variants in the summer having earmarked a left-footed partner for club-record signing Harry Maguire as a priority.
Nathan Ake was targeted, but the Dutchman opted to move to Manchester City instead which has left Ole relying on the likes of Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe and Eric Bailly this season.
