Sandro has been persistently linked with a transfer to the Red Devils and I Rossoneri, who are in need of midfield reinforcements this transfer window.
The 20-year-old Sandro is already an Italy international and is expected to move on from his side this summer following their relegation to Serie B, with a number of elite clubs linked.
According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan are still optimistic about closing a summer deal for Tonali and are one step away from doing so.
They have reached a total agreement on the basis of a loan with obligation to buy in a deal costing a total of €35 million.
However, the paper adds that Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s side have not given up just yet and could launch their own attempt to land him.
In other news, Dean Henderson has signed a new long-term deal with Manchester United, the club’s official website have announced.
The 23-year-old star included in Gareth Southgate’s senior England roster for next month’s Nations League games versus Iceland and Denmark has spent the last two campaigns on loan at Sheffield United.
The club said: “Manchester United is delighted to announce that Dean Henderson has signed a new contract, which will keep him at the club until June 2025, with the option to extend for a further year.”
