Real Madrid Getting Involved In Race For Top Barcelona Target
Real Madrid are being linked to Lautaro Martinez again.Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are the top two players on Real Madrid’s wishlist over the long term, but it’s unlikely Los Blancos will be able to even negotiate for either player until 2021. And there’s a chance Real won’t be able to sign either potential top goalscorer until 2022. Real Madrid Getting Involved In Race For Top Barcelona Target
Both players would be dream additions who can fill a huge need for Real, but the club isn’t only looking at them as possible options. Los Blancos have shown interest in other forwards, such as Timo Werner, with plenty of competition from arch rivals FC Barcelona.
Now, Real Madrid are reportedly showing renewed interest in their rivals’ top striker target, Lautaro Martinez. They had been linked to Martinez before, but it didn’t seem like they were seriously involved.
Sky Italia reports, via Sport, that Florentino Perez wants to jump in because of how slow negotiations have been between Barcelona and Inter.
Martinez has stated his desire to play with Barcelona, and it seems like a perfect fit. With Luis Suarez no longer a starting-caliber player for La Blaugrana, the club needs a young upgrade who can already start. Real Madrid Getting Involved In Race For Top Barcelona Target
Martinez has been a big breakout star for Inter alongside Romelu Lukaku and can co-exist with Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann. While Haaland and Mbappe are better players, Martinez could also be a fit for Real Madrid. But don’t count on this deal happening despite Perez reportedly showing interest in the player. Barcelona are the better fit and are far more likely to spend money in this window. Meanwhile, Haaland and Mbappe are bigger priorities for Real and better players who are more likely to join.
The slow negotiations probably aren’t worrying Barcelona either. They’ve been busy working out a deal for Miralem Pjanic from Juventus. And with the seasons starting up in both leagues, there’s no rush to negotiate, especially with all the uncertainty financially in football right now. There’s more of a chance Martinez stays with Inter than he joins Real.
